After switching trains at Manassas Junction, now on the Manassas Gap Railroad, the body of troops moved toward Strasburg. At one point, Imboden detects that the engineer of the train is deliberately slowing down, and places a Navy Colt revolver to the engineer’s head. Once in Strasburg, Imboden, seeing farmers working in the fields, commandeers the horses to haul his guns to Winchester.
