    I’m curious to know what sources you found for the biographies of the VA 33rd. I also notice your blog includes some marginalia with Michael Shuler’s gravestone photograph with your name on it… that strange indeed.

    • Rex, Which Bio, specifically? I’ve got multiple resources for the 33rd. As for the image of Shuler with my name, I’m using Uncle Shuler’s image as my Facebook profile for these days of Manassas remembrance. Of all my people at the battle, he’s the only one for whom I have an image.

    I currently have his sword that he used in battle. It has been handed down through our family 4 generations. A very special part of US History.

    • Really? I heard, from a collector that he had bought it. I was not happy to hear this, and hope what you say is true. At least it would still be in the family. Does your sword have the belt plate as well? I only ask this as I received a photo of the sword and belt plate, back in the 80s, so I know that they are together on a display board.
