Ron Painter
October 20, 2012
John William Keyser, son of A.J. and Eliza Glenn Keyser, was a school teacher in Marksville. From 1869 until 1917 he kept a diary. This multivolume diary is stored at Richmond. It includes quite a number of death dates for Page County people. For some individuals this diary is the only record of their death dates. Keyser, it should be noted, was the primary Marksville correspondent to the Page Courier and Page News and Courier until his death. He used the pen name “Novus Homo.”
