While my focus here lately has been on activities in the Shenandoah Valley, and the take on secession in this general area, Ron Baumgarten, over at All Not So Quiet Along the Potomac, has done a superb job following the Virginia secession crisis in Northern Virginia. The two most recent posts have been about a Fairfax delegate explaining his vote against secession, and Northern Virginia delegates being divided over secession. It’s been fun just to watch his take on it in that region, lined-up against what I’ve been following in this region of Virginia.

Thanks so much, Robert. I appreciate the kind words. I’ve enjoyed researching, writing, and spreading the word about this episode in Northern Virginia’s Civil War era history. I hope that my series has helped to explain the reality behind this difficult time in Virginia history. I’ve also really liked following your parallel universe out in the Valley–excellent as always. In particular, the recent series on the events surrounding the passage of the Ordinance of Secession and the march on Harpers Ferry has been fascinating to read.

Absolutely! And looking forward to seeing how you transition into the next few months, with the referendum and beyond.
