Dining at either the “Pirate House” or “Lady and Sons,” I presume?
However, I was fond of Johnny Harris’ BBQ and Churchill’s Pub during my time in Savannah.
“Six Pence” looks good for a pub, but also wanting the Crab Shack out on Tybee. Hit the Mellow Mushroom today for lunch. I hear that the site of Tony Romas actually has ties to the CW… that was interesting as the place doesn’t look CW era.
102 yesterday…. yeeeoooowwwwww… I’m no longer acclimated to this humidity. Ten years is a long time out of this type of climate!
Craig, I’ve gotta ask… why are there two fine Civil War cannon tubes on display near the armory (Jasper Square) and yet not a blip on signage telling what they were or who used them? I’ll post a photo in a post tonight or tomorrow to show you the ones that I’m talking about.
Robert,
you mean the cannon on loan from the armory that are in place at Madison Square?
The notes I have is those were guns issued to the armory (post war of course). These are said to be part of the Washington Guard’s allotment of guns. However I’ll admit to never verifying that through the paper trail. Sounds logical, however.
As far as I know the guns have no unique history. Just standard Napoleons that were passed down after the war. Not, as one person I know suggested, left over from Uncle Billy’s visit.
Craig.
So like Sherman after the March to the Sea, you are “offering” the city of Savannah to us as a present?
Ohhh, I really wouldn’t say it that way…
